I refer to the front page article in the Devizes edition of January 15, ‘High prices fuel anger’, and to current correspondence. The only way to deal with all kinds of rip-off merchants including Rontec (and Total before them) – and who in this instance take advantage of having no supermarket fuel competition – is never to use them.

I have boycotted these outlets for the past five years. One has to have a little discipline and fill up in Melksham, for example. If one can fit this in with other jobs to spread the additional cost of travellling, so much the better.

Do the sums – take on as much fuel as possible. If enough people boycotted these outlets the consequence would, because of significantly lower fuel sales, be either that the price is forced down or the operator is forced out.

It is no use being half-hearted and use them on occasion – never should be the policy. Get sufficient numbers of motorists to do this and you might be surprised at the outcome!
