Coun Jonathon Seed has accused me of grandstanding over the Devizes Campus development and exhorts me to put a proposal to cabinet (Gazette letters, January 15). He should check his facts!

My submission on behalf of Devizes was sent, with the encouragement of my area board chairman and manager, to him and the officer responsible for considering applications on December 22.

My observations in relation to the campus were a simple statement of facts – the original campus proposals, now three or four years old, identified a timeline which embraced all the county locations for which a campus was envisaged.

The November cabinet meeting disclosed no expectations in regard to Devizes, which was a disappointment to my team and me.

That our campus manager had also been withdrawn – with no formal notification – added anxiety. Events since the submission of the proposals for the Devizes Campus suggest a creep towards completion rather than any headlong rush.

Nigel Carter, Devizes Guardians, Devizes Town Council.
