Responding to Nigel Carter’s letter (Gazette & Herald, December 25) regarding fuel prices in Devizes, I wish to add my unqualified support.
The operators of the Devizes filling stations are profiteering disgracefully.
Mr Carter identified a number of sources around the area where petrol is available more cheaply.
He did not say that everywhere in the locality is substantially cheaper than Devizes, even the little independent garage on the road between Sells Green and Melksham. We never fill up in Devizes and would be delighted if others did the same.
A response to this correspondence by the operators of the petrol stations, explaining the reason for their high prices, would be of great interest.
