Regarding the complaint from Vicky Ody, the sign concerning HGVs at the top of Market Street, Bradford on Avon, is not new but has been there for some years; it has ‘appeared’ because overhanging greenery has been removed.
Vicky Ody may also like to know that some HGVs do still manage to cross the bridge and approach Newtown via Market Street and others enter after coming down Masons Lane. Recently a particularly large HGV did just this, and after reaching the narrow bend at the far end of Newtown became completely stuck and held up all other traffic for nearly half an hour while the driver, assisted by two residents, tried to negotiate his way back down Newtown.
What is needed here is not the removal of the existing notice, but the addition of more and better signs.
