I noticed a small mention of a Charles Dickens magic show in the Gazette & Herald last week, taking place in Oaksey village hall near Malmesbury on November 29.

This tempted me (as I am a magician myself) and I went with a small group to the show and what a delight it was.

The hall was decked out like a café, with tables scattered about and so it was very informal, which made for a very intimate evening of entertainment.  The staff were all most hospitable and friendly too.

Magician Ian Keable, winner of the prestigious Magic Circle Comedy Award, performed the favourite magic tricks of Charles Dickens. Not many people know that Charles Dickens was an accomplished conjurer.

Ian’s combination of comedy and superb magic, together with facts on the life and times of Charles Dickens made for a most entertaining evening of mirth and magic.
