Regarding the article on proposed parking changes last week, there was no mention of disabled spaces.

Some time ago, it was reported in the Gazette & Herald that Wiltshire Council was proposing to change the wording of the disabled notice so that it applied every day, and that abled-bodied people were not to be allowed to park there at any time.

At the moment the notice reads ‘Monday to Saturday’. Is this because disabled people suddenly become ‘able’ on a Sunday? (If only!) Or perhaps they are not supposed to go out on Sundays or after 6pm on weekdays.

We also have to contend with people parking in these spaces because they are “only going to be five minutes”, especially in front of The Bear in Devizes on Saturday mornings when unloading takes place for an event in the Corn Exchange. Something really ought to be done about this.
