I was intrigued by the comments made regarding the creation of a Muslim prayer centre in the Devizes Gazette & Herald last week.
Your report on this suggests that the facility is already in existence. Any increase in use, or traffic and parking, could only come from more people attending than already do so.
I travelled around Devizes on Sunday to look at the various religious centres in Devizes.
My ad hoc mini survey suggests that a lot of traffic is generated by these several sites, all in residential areas.
I wonder how many of them will be willing to relocate to Hopton Industrial Estate?
If Wiltshire Council decides, using planning criteria, that this facility should not remain at its present location, I would hope that Messrs Siddiq and Hussain will act in exactly the same way as any other Devizes citizen, and accept that decision.
If the planning authority decides that it can stay, we should practise the religious and racial tolerance that has, in the main, been the norm in this country for so long, and accept that decision.
