Thank you for publishing the pictures and write-up last week on the Seagry Spitfire memorial.

It was very interesting, so full marks to Martin Painter and all those involved from the committee to the Royal Wootton Bassett band.

However, there are several inaccuracies. The picture quoted as Royal British Legion is not. They are of two RAF Association standard bearers from Calne, Corsham and Chippenham, ATC standards, and I believe National Service Association. There were three standard bearers from the Royal British Legion. The picture purporting to be Jim Scott is not him at all.

I know have had personal thanks from Martin Painter for the RAF Association involvement which included several wreaths and one laid by myself on behalf of the Wales, Midland, and Southwestern Area council.

Incidentally, we had 12 of our members present, and included two branches already mentioned and the RAFALOs from MoD Corsham.

There was no mention of the RAF from Brize Norton or from BUAS (Bristol University Air Squadron), based at Colerne. They had a large presence with the ATC.

I know all ceremonies seem to be only RBL-led, but other organisations were present and I feel should have had a mention.

Your reporter could have asked when we laid a wreath, as James Grey did to myself, and could have found out who the standard bearers were.

I was proud to have been involved, met the relatives and in a small way made it a success.

This not sour grapes, but reporting must be fair to all involved. I do appreciate that it is not easy sometimes to get information easily.
