How many volunteers does it take to make carnival fortnight in Pewsey a success?

There are a huge number of people, from guys and girls doing the lighting, the webpage, the marketing, the scheduling, the road closure notices, the registrations, the costumes, the floats, parking, stewarding and so it goes on.

As carnival kicks into high gear let’s say thank you to everyone who makes it what it is.

For my part I have just taken advantage of others’ hard work when putting together the pavement art community project on the road in the High Street to celebrate the carnival and the Tour of Britain.

That said, without the support of Wiltshire Highways and carnival organisers it wouldn’t have happened.

So the morning after the four-legged race our last group of hard working folk appear. Spare a thought for the road sweeping team from Balfour Beatty Living Places. These guys have agreed to sweep the road art manually, thus saving it from damage by the road sweeper.

I take my hat off to them. Getting out of bed before 4am to be in Pewsey by 5am to clean up after the four-legged race and be ready for the Tour of Britain.

And again following the wheelbarrow race and the carnival parade on Saturday.

On behalf of the community, thank you guys.

If you are around the High Street on Friday morning and I see you I will personally thank you for saving me from a very early start.
