How interesting to read in last week’s paper that businessman Paul Shayegan has done soundproofing works at the old Karma nightclub, which he plans to re-open.
Perhaps he would like to explain what soundproofing measures he plans to take for the local residents when the club users turn out onto the streets fuelled with alcohol in the early hours of the morning. What about protection for the local shop owners’ windows?
Police statistics show the month after Karma closed, incidents of violence against the person in Chippenham town centre were down 70 per cent on one year earlier. Let’s not forget who will be footing the bill for policing when problems arise, the council taxpayers of Chippenham no doubt.
Mrs Pat Bishop, Chippenham.
