I am involved with a military charity in creating some exhibits for various fund-raising events or, possibly, for permanent display.
One subject in the display is a First World War private soldier by the name of Harold E Baker who enrolled as a full-time, not conscripted, soldier. He was in the Wiltshire regiment (number 20170), was then either wonded or ill and returned to service in the Leicestershire regiment with the new number of 41716.
We would very much like to know if there are any family descendents of Mr Baker possibly still residing in Wiltshire.
It would be fascinating to learn if he returned to that region after the war, or where he went, and what family connections he had.
Was he your grandfather or great-uncle? Please do get in touch if you can help. We would love to find out more about this gentleman’s life.
