Hooray! At last Station Hill in Chippenham is to be resurfaced and possibly the pavement ‘bump’ reduced, making the bottleneck wider.

One can only fervently hope that yellow lines will also be included in the plan at the narrowest point outside the old Royal Mail sorting office, removing four parking places above the Dorothy House Hospice shop.

Anyone who has been behind a bus going up and two buses coming down will be only too familiar with the mayhem caused. (Thankfully we didn’t witness the chaos inevitably caused when the huge vehicles from the circus came to Monkton Park a few weeks ago).

If Wiltshire Council offices had to be approached from Station Hill instead of the parallel Monkton Hill then might the problems faced daily by Monkton Park residents have been identified more quickly?

It is three years since I first brought this matter up with both Wiltshire Council and Chippenham Town Council and only Mr Caswill has ever acknowledged there is a problem. Enough said.
