On the proposed development on land east of Ball Road, Pewsey, yet again Wiltshire Council falls woefully short in its communication duties.

I am in the direct firing line of this proposed development and yet I have not been informed of this application by any person from the council.

While I understand some of my neighbours received a letter through their door I did not. And yet my house is situated almost directly opposite the proposed access road.

Could this be because I objected most strongly to the initial proposal for building on this land?

I wonder how many others have similarly been ignored? There is a distinct and distasteful feeling that this new application is trying to get in under the radar.

Are there any signs near the entrance to the meadow? No. Are there any signs at the point of the proposed access road? No.

To the best of my knowledge there is only one green notice visible in Ball Road and that is tied to a telegraph pole a considerable distance away from the proposed development, down by the Coopers.

I am still awaiting a response from the council to my letter of October 31 2013 questioning Wiltshire Council’s communications strategy and why it took such a long time for people’s objections to be displayed on the council’s web site – thus hindering the transparency and weight of objections visible to neighbours.

I do object most strongly since I believe this development to be completely in the wrong place and utterly out of keeping with its environment.

Contrary to the architects’ claims it would add nothing to the character of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, would certainly not enhance or blend in, and would contribute significantly to the safety risk already in evidence on this ancient road. Moreover it would certainly destroy views, trees, visual experience, privacy and history.

In the meantime I would welcome a response to my letter of October last and to this current lack of advisement. I complained then of the council’s dismal communications’ efforts – unfortunately it seems I was only too right.

As before, I return to the branding strap line – ‘Where Everybody Matters’. It would be nice to believe it.

On this showing it does not appear to be the case and I imagine this lack of appropriate advisement is totally contrary to planning policy where people directly affected should be informed/consulted and invited for their views.
