Driver was callous

4:00pm Thursday 16th May 2013

To the driver of the silver and red Isuzu Trooper who knowingly hit a muntjac on the A4 at Pickwick in Corsham at 8.35pm on Tuesday, May 7, yes, you did leave the poor animal screaming in agony. Two other drivers did stop to clear up your mess. The police, a vet, an animal dispatcher and the owner of the property of your callous crime attended your destruction. And finally, after suffering a broken pelvis and other injuries, the poor animal was humanely put down.

Council too political

4:00pm Thursday 16th May 2013

On Monday evening I attended my first Chippenham Town Council meeting for nine years as an Independent member, an honour that nothing can diminish, and found myself appalled at the political shenanigans that have penetrated to our town hall.

Chat to me at surgery

4:00pm Thursday 16th May 2013

I would like to thank all the people who voted for me in the recent unitary elections. Thanks also to all the people in my campaign team who worked so hard. I couldn’t have done it without you. I promise to work hard representing Calne North for the next four years.

4:00pm Thursday 16th May 2013

Thank you to everyone who made the Macmillan coffee morning such a great success – the buyers and the givers of lovely items to sell, also my band of many helpers. They know who they are. There are too many to mention.

Fine schools as well

3:00pm Thursday 9th May 2013

In response to your recent article about a parent being fined for taking a child out of school, I have sent the following letter to Wiltshire Council. I would like to call on them to further support their actions and close the loop on school absence.

Road is a nightmare

3:00pm Thursday 9th May 2013

I refer to your News in Brief item in the Gazette and Herald on May 2, page 19 about a ‘new area name’ for the new building development Victoria Terrace on my road (mostly funded by the housing association – I can’t name them because they keep changing the name).

Enraged at comments

3:00pm Thursday 9th May 2013

As I am writing this, I am shaking with fury at the ridiculous outburst I heard today from a passer-by while I was shopping in Chippenham.

A kind-hearted act

3:00pm Thursday 9th May 2013

I would like to thank the kind- hearted person who found my father’s set of keys and thoughtfully handed them into Lloyds Bank in the Market Place in Devizes last Tuesday. On returning home with his shopping a panic ensued when he realised he was missing his house keys.
