Three people complained about the new Courage advert

Photograph of the Author

Posted on 9:55am Wednesday 15th April 2009

So, three people took the time and trouble to whinge to the ASA about a humorous advert. "Ooo, I'm right upset and offended, me" they must have twittered. FFS, have they nothing better to do with their time. Pathetic twerps. This irritating story is on the right. And then the lily-livered, mealy-mouth, Guardianistas at the ASA upheld their complaint. Why didn't they just say "sod off and stop wasting our time you moron"? Pah! It makes your blood boil. And if this offends anyone who's blood occasionally gets above 98.4 degrees then ... aaaarrggh!

Great flag-raising moments

Let's think. There's the US Marines on Iwo Jima. Then there's Hilary and Tensing on Everest. Ooh ... let's not forget Armstrong and Aldrin on the moon (or in area 51 for the conspiracy theorists) But now there's a new one to add to the list when a "new Wiltshire Council flag will be raised at County Hall in Trowbridge to mark the occasion."

What a generous bunch

I was selling raffle tickets atthe Lions Club 'Spring Serenade' last night. Normally, there is a fair bit of 'selling' involved. But not this time. They flew out of the books as we raised £272 to continue supporting (mainly local) deserving causes. Thnnks to all of those who contributed so generously.

Another bit of my childhood gone

He would never have had the same appeal these days but, along with the likes of Charlie Caroli, he gave em a lot of laughs in the 70s. RIP, matey.

Should I have put my broad beans in last week? The packet said they could go in the ground in February but now we've hada couple of bleedin' frosts! And what about beetrot? It say stick the seeds straight in the ground but would I be better off starting them in pots in the plastic-covered thingy that I got from Argos?

I haven't felt like writing this for a while now. Just after I finished my last entry, I got a call from my dad to say that my mum had died suddenly that morning. As I'm sure you can appreciate, that really pissed on my chips.

It seems that the Donner Kebab is not the cornerstone of a nutritional diet (see the absurdly placed 'related links' section). Who'd have thought it, eh?

The old Roundway question

You know, the one where they get all the benefits of Devizes whilst paying less than most. But where some residents say "boo hoo it's not fair I live in Devizes apart from when it comes to paying my fair share so I should have an allotment paid for by the people of Devizes and don't ask me to pay any more because I don't want to I just want the advantages."

Scummy scam

I've just received one of those scam emails - one where your help is solicited to get some money moved in exchange for 10% of the transaction. The one I've just got claims to be from UNICEF. Am I being unreasonable in hoping that the filthy bastards who are using this organisation as a cover die slow and painful deaths and then rot in the bowels of hell?

Seems what this story (over on the right in that stupid 'related links' bit) about third-hand smoke is suggesting.
