Robinson puts Melksham Park into final

Under 9's League Cup Semi Final: Trowbridge Wanderers and Melksham Park A got off to a very even start with both sides wary of one another as the previous meetings had been very close.

Half way through the first half Tommy Ireland tried to head a stinging shot away but unfortunately diverted it past his own goalie. This fired up Melksham Park and a very good run up the wing ended with Thomas Mack laying on a superb cross which was dispatched into the Trowbridge goal by a grateful Nathan Trueman. The second half was very close with good play from both sides until Matthew Harrod was unfortunately injured. From the resultant dropped ball Sam Robinson scored an excellent goal making it 2-1 to Melksham Park.

Early in the first half AFC Corsham Leopards showed promise as Daniel Lewis slid in to almost push the ball over the line but a quick reactions from the Trowbridge keeper denied the Leopards the early boost. The early hope soon disappeared as the first division team out-played the Leopard's to end the first half with a four goal lead. In the second half the Leopards adapted well to the pace of the game, conceded one goal but scored themselves with a direct free kick taken by Jonathan Bazley. The Leopards enjoyed the excitement of reaching the semi-final. Trowbridge saw goals from Timmy Jones (2), Matthew Hatter, Scott Baker and Toby Brewer.

Under 11's League Cup Semi Final A superb solo run and finish by Jake Brand put White Horse Flames ahead against the run of play in their tie against Trowbridge Wanderers. After the break the Flames made the most of the windy wet conditions and scored two goals in quick succession from Bailey Coupland and Adam Sartain to take them into the final. Wanderers kept battling but fine defending from the Flames kept them at bay.

Trowbridge Town Youth went through to the final with an excellent display against a very talented Larkhall team. Trowbridge took the lead after seven minutes from a corner which Larkhall only cleared to the edge of the eighteen yard box which James Pridham smashed into the net from twenty-two yards. Larkhall went close a couple of minutes later forcing Nathan Burrows to make an excellent save to his right. Trowbridge got their second on twelve minutes when Matthew Morris struck from the edge of the box with a low drive into the bottom corner, Town then added a third shortly before the break through Conner McKay when he hit a shot through a crowd of players. Larkhall came back strongly after the break and put Towns goal under pressure however Towns defence held out and gradually took control again. Town added their fourth goal after Joe Blais's hard work down the left hand side saw his cross deflected into the net. Final score, 4-0 to Town.

Under 11's League Jack Goodenough Memorial Trophy Bradford Town Youth were without doubt the under dogs for this game but right from the start they matched Melksham Town Youth in all areas and controlled play. With Melksham under pressure and unable to break through the solid defending, they were caught out by a quick move from Bradford in midfield which split the Melksham defence leaving front man Duncan Burnside a great opportunity to skilfully take the ball around the keeper to find the back of the net. Melksham had their chances to level the score but were denied by a super performance from Will Gifford who was outstanding in goal throughout the game. With the under dogs leading 1-0 at the interval Melksham needed to get back into the game fast and their persistence paid off with a great strike going in off the post. Bradford's Duncan Burnside who scored earlier in the match and was a constant worry and threat to Melksham was brought down by a tackle resulting in an injury that took him out of the game. Both sides had their chances to go ahead but it was Melksham who went on to score another three goals leaving a final score line of 4-1. This was a great game to watch from start to finish played in very wet, windy and muddy conditions, a true cup tie.

Amesbury Town march on to a prospective league and cup double with rivals Melksham Town standing in their way in both competitions. In absolutely atrocious conditions at Corsham both sides found it extremely difficult to adapt and any chance of attractive flowing football was non-existent. It took Amesbury some time to get into their stride but once they did they overwhelmed a spirited Trowbridge side with three goals before the break. Harry Beckley opened the scoring in the twenty-fourth minute with a superb left foot strike from twenty yards which flew straight into the top corner of the Trowbridge goal and four minutes later he scored a second. This time a tremendous through ball from Conor Harrington allowed him to take the ball past the Trowbridge defence and finish with his usual consistency. Just before the interval substitute Finn Drury added the third goal with a simple tap in to give Amesbury Town an unassailable lead. Not that the game was completely one way traffic as keeper Tom Hollinworth had a superb game pulling off a number of excellent saves. His handling and confidence were first rate deservedly winning him Amesbury Town man of the match award. In the worsening conditions the second half never really matched the excitement of the first though both Beckley and Charlie Utterson had chances to increase the score line. They found the Trowbridge keeper in good form however and he denied them with some tremendous goalkeeping. Amesbury Town back line looked in command throughout with both Harrington and Adam Flint looking solid at the heart of the defence. One hopes that the final at Melksham in May will provide better weather conditions so that both Amesbury Town and Melksham can show their undoubted class in a final that promises to be a classic.

Under 9's Division One Chippenham Town Youth took the early initiative and control of their local derby against FC Chippenham and consolidated their efforts with a superbly taken goal by Dylan Hatt who lobbed the goal keeper and defence as the ball came to him after tenacious work from Luis Nyman. The game was end to end with both sides playing good football in wet conditions. The second half was again end to end and FC Chippenham scored a fine equaliser as Frank Vaz who towered above all to score with a fine header from a well taken corner. Chippenham pressed forward and created many fine chances but a goal from Jordan Young who capitalised on some indecision in the Chippenham defence giving FC Chippenham a 2-1 win. Chippenham Town again attacked in numbers but were unfortunate not to secure a point but all were pleased as both teams put on a fabulous display.

Under 9's Division Two In their top of the table clash second place Larkhall Athletic took three points from leaders Devizes Town Youth with a 2-1 away win. Tom Walker and Alex Pippard scored for Larkhall with Jamie Waters replying for Devizes. The win leaves Larkhall level on points with Devizes with a game in hand.

Under 9's Division Three Adam Bouchama gave Town Youth D their first win of the season after running out 1-0 against club mates Trowbridge Town Youth D.

Under 9's Division Four A win at last for Melksham Park B in a very even match against Trowbridge Wanderers played in an excellent spirit. With the rain pouring down both teams had chances the first half but defences were coming out on top. Eventually, after a good spell of pressure we finally got the breakthrough with Jordan Earley scoring a fine goal, beating the deeper with a low shot. Park's Harry Church and Jay Athay were very strong at the back with great help from Ayrton Bramley, Tai Jones, Ashley Beale and George Morrison. Jordan Earley also dropping back towards the end as Trowbridge pushed for an equalizer. In the last minute Trowbridge broke forward and looked certain to score but Steven Brenchley stood firm in goal. Man of the match was awarded to Tai Jones.

Under 9's Division Five Dilton Rovers maintain their place at the top of the table after running out 3-1 winners against home side AFC Calne. Andrew Cranston scored for Calne.

Under 9's Division Six Westbury Youth Tigers ran out 5 -3 winners over Chippenham Towns Youth Blue in a very entertaining match at Redland Lane. Westbury started with confidence and Ewan Whelan opened the scoring from a well-worked Westbury attack. The Greens were really on the attack and when the Chippenham keeper failed to secure the ball Ellie Osborne was quick to find the back of the net. Sam Cocks then made it three when he found some space on the edge of the box to beat the keeper and Jacob Humphrey making it four soon after. The score did not reflect the play with Chippenham playing some good football and before the break Dan Cotter's quick ball in from a corner found the back of the Westbury net. Humphrey restored the lead soon after the break with a fine left foot strike. From then on it was Chippenham playing all the football with Ben Berkley playing some great football down the right wing first putting Cotter in for his second then getting one himself. Westbury were finding it difficult to keep Amesbury Town out but did hold on to take the win.

A hat trick from Callum Norris and a single from Harvey Amey secured a 4-1 home win for Trowbridge town Youth E against Melksham Town Youth Magpies.

Under 11's Division Four Home side Worton & Cheverell and Bradford Town Youth White played a very close game with Bradford opening the scoring early in second half. Jack Pearce then pegged the score back for Worton. Worton took lead with Josh Hatcher heading home. After half time Bradford got themselves back into the game at 2-2. Ben Jenks slotted home for 3-2 to Worton. Bradford again equalised putting pressure on Worton to attack again. Jenks bagged his brace to make it 4-3 to Worton. Man of the match for Worton was Elliot Hopkins with a master class display from midfield.
