CASTLE Combe failed to take the lead in their game when ten minutes in a free kick cleared the crossbar.

Then barely two minute later Martin Perry tried a shot from about twenty-five yards which also hit the bar. Amazingly both sides hit the bar again before the half time break, but neither could force the ball over the line. Westbury probably had the better chances and their defence definitely looked more solid.

The second half played out in the same vain but early into the half Westbury carved out a chance, but Jonny Tribick could only shoot wide.

Seven minutes in Westbury put together a fine passing move, Sam Reeves played into Martin Perry, who played a perfectly weighted pass for the swift Tom Beer, then Beer controlled and played a fine ball for the advancing Tribick to get on the end of and place it neatly past the keeper.

Both defences then re-asserted their dominance. Westbury managed to hit the bar for a third time on the hour (a second time for Dan Davis).

Westbury then made the game safe on seventy-one minutes when the ball fell to Perry some twenty-five yards out and he hit a great dipping shot which beat the keeper ending the game at 2-0 to Westbury.

Seven goals each from Worton and Cheverell strikers Tom Mason and Alex Harrod along with two from Jonathan Cole saw the away side to a comfortable victory against an understrength White Horse Juniors at John Bentley School. Despite only having ten players White Horse battled valiantly from start to finish and should on their showing improve during the coming season.
