Fracture ends Sturrock's season

Blair Sturrock's season is over - just as he sees the air of disappointment lift over his Swindon Town teammates.

The striker has been playing with a scaphoid fracture in his wrist since falling awkwardly against Leyton Orient last month.

But a scan revealed the extent of the damage and the 26-year-old Scot has had a cast put on - ruling him out of the final five games, starting at Doncaster tomorrow.

"There is nothing I can do about it now, it's going to take two months and I've had a cast put on it and I can't play with that on,'' he said.

"I've been watching them train and the sharpness and excitement is back again after beating Oldham."

But Sturrock's injury will not stop him enjoying his hobby after revealing he likes to cycle to the County Ground for reserve games and training.

"I don't cycle to first team games in my suit but it's nice to have a little ride before reserve games as it relaxes your muscles," he said.

"I park it in the shower room and away I go."

But Sturrock has to be wary of pratical jokes from his teammates.

"The boys have had a wee go at my bike but it's looking pretty sleek.

"It's still got both the wheels but that might give them ideas."
