Allen loan deadline is set
Deadline: Chris Allen
Deadline: Chris Allen

Swindon Town manager Maurice Malpas has told clubs they are running out of time to sign Chris Allen on loan.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been earmarked for a temporary move by Malpas so he can gain first team experience.

But, Malpas only wants to send the former youth team captain out for a month as he wants Devizes-born Allen available for the League One run-in.

He said: "If nothing happens in the next few days I'm not sure I would like him to go until the end of the season. It is getting very tight for someone to sign him.

"If he doesn't move then we have a few reserve games coming up and he will have to play in those."

If he stays, Allen could play a part in Town's push for the League One play-offs.

Of Town's top six bid, Malpas added: "I think we will still make the play-offs and but it is not the end of the world if we don't.

"It is still my aim and the players' goal and I feel it is still very feasible."
