PAOLO Di Canio wants to recruit two more players with real passion for the Swindon Town cause as he prepares to lead his side into League One.
The Town boss watched on as the Robins were beaten 1-0 by Championship outfit Crystal Palace at the County Ground last night, and then revealed that he
is still after a couple of new faces before the Capital One Cup opener with Brighton next week.
The Italian stressed that he is looking not only for technical ability but also for a quality of character very dear to him – that of total commitment to the profession.
“It’s obvious that I will push quick to bring in another two animals that live in this league like it’s the best like in the world,” he said.
“I want players who will come here and feel the cause and make us have good numbers.
“I want players who can give the guarantee that every time I call them they give their best fight for this place.
“I am still determined to try to change again the mentality that still, in some way, since two years ago is here that ‘if I don’t play it’s not my fault, it’s the manager’s fault’.
“No, it’s never the manager’s fault; it’s the players’ fault if they don’t give their best. They have to give their best, it’s their job, they have a contract, they have to give their best. It’s
tough but they have to give their best.
“If they don’t give their best it’s not good for me but fortunately I still have the power to bring in new players.”
