Hines trial cut short
ZAVON Hines has had his trial at Swindon Town cut short by manager Paolo Di Canio due to concerns over his fitness levels.
The former West Ham and Burnley forward began training with the club this week in a bid to earn a contract, and although Di Canio admitted he was a talented player, he has decided he will not be up
to his side’s high level of fitness quick enough.
“He has gone straightaway after the test, sometimes you can be lucky, but I can’t start pre-season with him now and this is not for me,” he said.
“I don’t think you will find players with the same level of fitness of my players, but if they had 25-30 days of pre-season with any side in the Championship the gap is easy to reach.
“Just because he is far from his level of fitness it is not fair to keep him, even though he is a talented player.”
There is better news for goalkeeper Iain Turner, who also began training with the club yesterday, who will remain with the squad and possibly play a part in tomorrow night’s game with Salisbury.
“The goalkeeper will stay with us because we want to be sure because he is a good goalkeeper and an experienced professional,” Di Canio said.
“He got involved straightaway and he communicated by calling the names, and that is crucial.
“You can see he has physical presence and at the moment he is ok.”

They guy obviously wasn't nearly fit enough, which kind of indicates that he hasn't got a desire to keep himself in peak condition and thus may not have been fully committed to giving his best every week if he had been signed. Paolo needs his players to be as passionate for the results as he is (perhaps not as expressive in their emotions tho) and I doubt Hines was.
As decisive as ever - somethings will not change - and PdC standards are one.

Now look here Steve! I thought we were mates! Jayden puts out these rumours that I am a burger-guzzling git but I can tell you this all he did was moan moan at the Supermarine game 'where's the burger van ' until we had to leave early to get a crap burger in Faringdon. Then it's ' ooo my guts hurt' then he nicks my tools and sacks me!

Just got a text from a mate who is a crew fan and he told me that STFC have made a bid of 200k for Ashley Westwood...
