South West Golfer
Ross rolls in
GLENN Ross, who took over as the new West Region PGA secretary last month, is still determined to maintain his links with grassroots golf.
Despite the challenge of his new post, and the daily hour-long commute from his Minehead home to the Exeter base, he will continue his involvement with the English Women's Golf Association coaching programme.
He said: "I've been working with the South West regional squad of girls of 18 and under for the past five or six years and enjoy the involvement.
"I am going to spent about a dozen days a year continuing as a coach and that will be part of my holiday time with the PGA."
He is no stranger either to the PGA's Exeter headquarters or the daily trip from Minehead where his family are settled. When he became the South West regional development officer of the Golf Foundation six years ago, the office was on the floor below the PGA headquarters at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
The 36-year-old PGA professional succeeded Ray Ellis who is talking on a part-time national role with the PGA before he retires in two years.
