Touch rugby taking off in Chippenham
Touch rugby: Touch Rugby has come to Chippenham Rugby Football Club and has really taken off during the season.
Will Wilkinson is the co-ordinator for Touch Rugby at Chippenham. He said: "We started playing Touch Rugby last summer and we meet each Wednesday throughout the year."
Such has been the success of Touch Rugby that Wilkinson and his team will be running leagues from mid May through to mid July. He said: "Once a week, in order to develop our leagues, we have linked in with Bath Rugby to host the Premiership Leagues at Chippenham. We are keen to attract team entries from local companies, clubs, organisations, pubs etc. We also would like to see individuals coming along who we can place within a team."
He went on: "As part of the promotion of the forthcoming leagues, we are playing a Chippenham -v- Bath Touch Rugby game during the half-time interval during Bath's semi-final match this coming weekend against Sale."
Wilkinson is keen to see the further progress of Touch Rugby and said: "Overall I am keen to promote Touch Rugby and to this end, we are holding an Open Night at Chippenham Rugby Football Club on Tuesday 13th May starting at 7.30pm. Anyone and everyone interested in playing Touch Rugby is welcome to come along and see what it is all about."
Wilkinson can be contacted through Chippenham RFC on 01249 446997.
