IT’S been a really entertaining start to the World Cup and we’ve got some huge matches coming up this weekend now.

I think England have shown their hand for the Wales game by not picking George Ford and bringing in Owen Farrell and Sam Burgess, and moving Brad Barritt to outside centre.

It’s a big call. They have invested a lot in Ford and his creativity but this is matching fire with fire, trying to match a bigger Wales back-line.

I am a bit surprised by it. I am happy to be proved wrong but I am a bit lost with what they are trying to do.

I would like to see more of George. I just don’t see any flare with how they’ve changed it.

Right now, I’d say it’s too close to call but I'm hopeful the Twickenham factor will have an effect and see us through.

England’s performance in their win over Fiji wasn’t one I was particularly impressed by but you’d have to say it was job done.

It would have been an emotional day and a long day too because of the opening ceremony. That first game; you just want to get it out of the way.

To get five points, you can’t ask for any more. If they had won 100-0, they still would have only got five points, so to come out relatively unscathed, they have to be pleased with that.

Japan have certainly written their chapter in World Cup history with their win over South Africa and a result like that is just wonderful for the game.

The weird thing was, a couple of days before, my son was asking about odds-on and things like that. I was trying to explain what it meant and said it was something that you would put your mortgage on happening and he said: 'like South Africa against Japan'.

But that’s sport sometimes. It was just incredible.

You have to take your hat off for the manner of how they won as well. If you’re three points down, you settle, take a kick at goal and be happy with it. They went for a scrum, kept the ball for another 10 phases and scored.

Last week, I tipped South Africa to make the final and although they have been a bit of a laughing stock and ripped to shreds, one thing I would say is there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded Springbok.
