ROSS Batty says the outcome of Saturday’s big game against Northampton Saints will dictate whether he can truly celebrate bringing up a ton in blue, black and white.

Trowbridge-based hooker Batty has been at Bath Rugby since 2010 and is in line to make his 100th appearance for the club against Aviva Premiership champions Northampton at The Rec.

And Batty has now set his sights on toppling the current leaders to ensure the day is a memorable one.

“I’m delighted, it’s a massive achievement,” said 28-year-old Batty. “To play 100 games for the same club is a big landmark to get to, especially at such a massive club like Bath.

“Saturday is certainly a game I won’t forget but first and foremost, we’ve got to go out there and try to win the game.

“It’s a massive challenge. Just like Sarries, Saints are one of the top teams in competition but if we want to be pushing ourselves in this league we, have to try to beat these teams.”

Batty feels this season has probably been his best so far in Bath shirt.

The former Newcastle Falcons man has pushed Rob Webber hard for his place and given the coaches some real headaches when it comes to deciding who should wear the number two jersey.

Batty added: “I’ve really enjoyed this season.

“We’ve got a quality squad here with strength in depth across the board but I feel this is a season where I’ve really put my hand up and shown what I am capable of.

“If I’ve been given those chances to get out there on the pitch, hopefully it means I’ve been performing well enough every day to deserve them.”
