Young scrum-half Chris Cook has extended his contract at Bath Rugby.

The 23-year-old Academy graduate spent much of last season on loan and helped London Welsh win promotion to the Aviva Premiership.

He has made the number nine shirt his own at The Rec this term, starting 16 of Bath’s games to date.

Cook said: “I’m really excited to be staying at Bath. This is the best place for me to keep developing, with the focus very much on helping young players such as myself to continue improving.

“There is still a lot of potential to be realised within the squad, and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”

Bath head coach Mike Ford added: “Chris has massively come on this season, and we’re very pleased he’s staying with us.

“He learnt a lot through the regular game-time he got on loan with London Welsh, came back to us for pre-season eager to impress and earn his place and that’s what he’s done.

“He’s got an exciting future ahead of him, and we’re looking forward to helping him achieve his full potential.”
