BATH prop Davey Wilson is gearing himself up for another intense physical battle when league leaders Saracens visit the Rec in the Aviva Premiership tomorrow night (7.45pm).

After the stunning 45-0 hammering of old foes Leicester Tigers two weeks ago, Bath came through another punishing assignment as they slipped to their first defeat of the campaign at champions Northampton last week.

England ace Wilson, who will make his 100th Bath appearance in the match, expects nothing but more of the same from Sarries’ visit tomorrow evening, where the role of he and the rest of the Bath pack is likely to be a key factor in deciding the outcome.

“Northampton and Saracens are two of the most physical sides in this league,’’ said the 29 year old.

“Last week was a big game and we didn’t quite get over the line, but this one is at the Rec where we pride ourselves on getting results.’’

Bath launched a ferocious fightback at Northampton last week, narrowly failing to secure a draw as flanker Alafoti Fa’osiliva was adjudged to have been held up over the line in the final action.

Wilson said: “I don’t think we played our best rugby, but credit to the boys for their comeback.

“It was tough (at the end) and we got over the line, but didn’t get the score.

“We were quite disappointed with our own scrum performance and we’ll need a massive set-piece performance this week to get ourselves in a position to win.

“They (Saracens) are probably the most consistent side (in the league) and they played a tactical game, but we’re concentrating on ourselves.

“If we play in the right areas and perform to the best of our ability, we can break through.’’
