RUGBY: Melksham 59 Trowbridge 2nd 6

MELKSHAM took their points total from three league matches over the 100 mark as they demolished their local rivals in Dorset & Wilts One North.

Phil Stone’s burst down the wing for a try, converted by Scott Simmons, gave them the ideal start after a minute before Rob Throne gathered Simon Foster’s clever chip for the second.

Trowbridge replied with a penalty but with number eight Phil Williams controlling proceedings, the Melksham pack took control.

Stone added a second try and Johnny Mills also crossed before the break, Trowbridge adding their second penalty.

David Dyke touched down for the second-half opener after fine play between forwards and backs and prop Simon Watts finished Williams’ break, Foster converting both.

Further tries were added by Mills, Luke Jones and Foster, who converted all three.
