RUGBY: Marlborough 35 Melksham 17

MARLBOROUGH pulled away in the second half to record their second win od the season.

A mix-up in defence led to their opener from Paul Roberts, converted by Nathan Morgan, after five minutes but Melksham responded with pressure from the pack, prop Simon Watts cleaning up a chargedown to set up field position.

After a well-worked lineout drive, Elliot Taylor scored their opening try and 10 minutes later, added a second from another set-piece, Scott Simmons converting.

Melksham, who had Sean Randall making his first full first team debut and Tom Culshaw sacrificing a day of his honeymoon to play, soaked up pressure from the larger home pack but on 32 minutes the hosts broke through to score under the posts through Amori Nailago and Morgan converted for a two-point lead.

A superb pass from new fly-half Simon Foster sent Simmons over for Melksham in the second period.

But using the slope well, Marlborough responded with a try from Taniela Delaitamana under the posts, converted by Morgan.

Despite losing Taniela Delaitamana to a yellow card, two more converted scores from Nailago wrapped up the result for the home side as Simmons was sin-binned for Melksham.
