RUGBY: Twin Counties out to rescue Twickenham dream

DORSET & Wilts team boss team manager Don Parsons has urged his side to seize their second chance to secure a third successive Twickenham final.

The Twin Counties lost their opening County Championship Shield pool match against Oxfordshire a fortnight ago, leaving them an uphill struggle to qualify.

Parsons, whose side host Berkshire at Bournemouth tomorrow (2pm), said: “It will take a tremendous team effort if we are to progress into the latter stages of this competition and make it to our third successive Twickenham final.

“Losing our first pool game against Oxfordshire was a big blow. However last weekend Berkshire beat Oxfordshire so it has left the door open for us.

“Quite simply if we win by a clear 17 points, or win and score four tries we should go through”.

He added: “We will not be naming our starting XV yet, but we have a stronger squad to select from since last time out”.

“It would be nice to get a big noisy crowd of supporters to get right behind the team and cheer the lads on.

“Remember we are the current shield holders and we want to make it a hat-trick of Twickenham victories”.

The squad includes Corsham’s Rhys Jones and Steve Bailey and Bradford on Avon’s Charlie Elton.
