RUGBY: Redingensians 41 Chippenham 10

MUCH-CHANGED Chippenham found their third-placed rivals too hot to handle despite a battling performance in Reading.

The visitors were forced to make six changes from the previous week, when they had secured their National Three South West status, but were 21-3 down at the interval as the home side’s three-quarters showed their quality.

First-half tries came from hooker Chris Rowland, Dom Gosling and Connor Stapley, Shaun Brown kicking three conversions and Sam Saunders replying with a penalty for Chippenham.

Rob Stapley touched down early in the second half, Brown converting to increase the home's side advantage, but Stapley was then shown a red card after asecond-half flare-up, while Connor Stapley and Owen Root were sin-binned.

Christian Novik scored a try for Chippenham, Saunders converting, but they too lost winger Matt Rhodes to the sin-bin.

Brown booted the resulting penalty and Joe Duffelen and Sam Hallett crossed for late scores.
