MARLBOROUGH RFC tasted success when they sent two teams to the Winchester Sevens tournament over the Easter weekend.
Wearing their new Compeed-sponsored kit for the first time, Marlborough’s first team triumphed in the Elite competition, with the second team finishing third.
The event was part of the National RFU 24 Sevens competition and is the third edition of the tournament, which will see hundreds of sevens sides from across England compete to earn the chance to reach the national finals at The Rec in Bath in July.
Elsewhere there was little action in the 15-man code over the Easter weekend, with those local sides that were in action falling to defeats in derbies.
Royal Wootton Bassett II were beaten 7-0 when they travelled to Dorset & Wilts One North leaders Bradford-on-Avon, while Melksham III lost 44-5 to their Trowbridge counterparts in Dorset & Wilts Three North.
