DEVIZES Ladies made it six of the best in South West North Two as they put Bristol side Aretians to the sword 37-7 at London Road.

The Wiltshire side continued to set the pace in the division with another superb performance to maintain their unbeaten record.

The hosts started better and began to put pressure on the Aretians defence with tough carries.

The Aretians defence stood firm but eventually yielded a penalty after Alice Bowerbank had turned over possession, Denise Warbutton landin the subsequent penalty.

Warbutton was again in the thick of the action and added the first try of the match, evading several tackles to dot down under the posts, a score she then converted.

Devizes were then denied a second when Lauren Nelson was adjudged to have made a double movement over the line but when the industrious flanker Emily Pratt broke through the defence she ran 70 yards to go over the line, Warbutton adding the conversion and another penalty.

The third try came as Warbutton took the ball off the back of a set-piece to dive over the line.

After the break, the scoring continued as Devizes pushed a maul a good 20 yards and Siobhan Spiers took the ball to go over the line.

A break by Mary Wallington, who sprinted through the defence and ably stepped the full-back, got her name on the scoresheet as the home side began to ring the changes.

Aretians plugged away all game and got on the board with a deserved score towards the end of the game.

Devizes next go to Westbury on December 4.
