DEVIZES Ladies' superb start to the campaign shows no sign of abating, with Bath Ladies 2nd their latest victims.

The Wiltshire side are yet to concede a point in three matches in Women's National Challenge South West North Two, which they currently lead.

Bath were unable to field a full XV so Devizes once again lent players to the opposition but started well and an excellent break by debutant Sian Stevens led to the first try by captain Kate Stradling in the corner.

Stradling’s second of the day followed after another line break caused havoc in the Bath defence, Denise Warbutton adding the conversion.

The third try was not far behind with Sharmen Jones going over for her maiden score after a kick through by Warbutton was chased down by the industrious Alice Bowerbank.

The scoring continued when Sophie Scratchley went over the line and stand-out play from player of the match Keturah Watts led to Stradling’s third.

The scoring was concluded after 43 minutes when Bowerbank went over after a five-metre scrum against the head, Warbutton converting the final two tries.

Devizes will promote the women's and girls game at an open morning at the club on Sunday (10am-12.30pm) There will be a guest appearance by World Cup winner Ceri Large, the current fly-half for Worcester’s Ladies team, who will chat about her experiences as an England player and run a short training drill for the ladies and girls at the club.

The RFU have selected Devizes Ladies and Girls rugby team as a beacon club in the area, due to improving results and retention and recruitment of players.

The focus of the morning is also to promote a 'Pitch up and Play' event being held at the club on October 23 (10am-12.30pm at London Road), to encourage new players to the sport.
