MINETY reigned supreme in torrential downpours as they comprehensively put Frome 2nd to the sword 67-0 in Dorset & Wilts One North.

With the forwards on top of their game, the home side's first try came after just three minutes when stand-in scrum-half Jack Ward picked up at a ruck and crashed over from close range.

Fly-half Tom McAllister converted and the second try came in the eighth minute when Ward collected a clearance on half way and fed centre Dave Church, who ran 40 metres to touch down in the corner, McAllister magnificently converting from the touch line.

Ward crossed for a second try after 15 minutes and centre Matt Roberts scored the fourth try after a fine move involving both forwards and backs.

Roberts scored again in the 31st minute, latching on to a Ward pass and running in from 30 metres and the sixth try arrived before half time as Roberts collected the ball, beat four defenders before slipping the ball to prop Will North who fed captain Andrew Hibbard who ran in from 25 metres. McAllister's long-range conversion took it to 36-0.

Ward scored his hat-trick try on 48 minutes, McAllister adding the extras before winger Ben Langridge crossed close to the corner, with McAllister landing a monster conversion from 40 metres.

Hibbard’s 60-metre burst from deep in his own half, blasting through the defence and outpacing the full-back brought another score before prop Gareth Thomas popped up in the line and side-stepped his way through to score his first try for the club.

The final score came after a free-flowing move as replacement forward James Stuart burst down the left wing and delivered a perfectly-timed pass to Ward to score again.

Coach Rich Hall said: “We executed the moves that we’d practised in training and were really well disciplined in our game play.

"We played to our strengths and kept the ball in very difficult conditions.”

Corsham romped to a 41-5 triumph at Swindon 2nd to maintin their unbeaten record at the top of the table.

Liam Snape scored two tries, Kalif Barnes, Steven Bailey, George Fortt and Robbie Robinson also touching down.

Pewsey Vale's dominant first half secured them a 53-24 victory over Chippenham 2nd, five second-half tries confirmed the supremacy of the home team.

Wing Pete Baird scored a hat-trick of tries, lock Karl Crosbie a brace and there was one apiece for scrum-half Nick Damper, centre Jamie Fox, wing Toni Bloomfield and flanker Jonny Mantle. Fly-half James Haynes converted four.

Devizes 2nd slipped to a 19-12 defeat to Melksham, courtesy of a last-minute try, but got off the mark for the season with a losing bonus point.

Bolstered by experienced scrum-half Tom Collins and the return of centre duo Chris Holloran and Dan Sloan, Devizes found themselves 12-7 up at the break with skipper Matty Holloran kicking four penalties, while hooker Aaron Brailey crossed for Melksham, Adam Davies converting.

Melksham responded after the break to level the scores through winger Ben Brown's try and then stole the victory as centre David Dyke touched down, Davies adding the extras.

MINETY 2nd claimed their second win in Dorset & Wilts Three North with a 19-12 success over Bradford on Avon 2nd.
