DORSET and Wilts Two North champions Pewsey squandered a 10-point lead when they allowed Calne back into the game in the last 10 minutes, through unforced errors and a defensive mix-up.
After a period of Pewsey pressure Calne took field position and battered the the visitors' line from five metres out for 10 minutes before being rewarded with a converted try from flanker Craig Harkess.
From the restart Pewsey went for territory and put the home team under pressure.
From a five metre scrum, number eight Phil Vallis picked and went, scoring out wide. Fly-half James Haynes’s conversion fell short.
Kicking off the second half, Pewsey surged forward and from front-foot pressure the pack drove for the line. Haynes finished the move with a converted try.
Pewsey started to dominate field position and kept play down in the hosts' half with kick and chase pressure.
As the last quarter started quick ball from a Pewsey scrum had wing Toni Bloomfield in down the narrow side for an unconverted score.
Calne came back and were being comfortably contained when a Pewsey kick through was gathered and moved diagonally across the pitch.
Defensive confusion in the Pewsey back ranks allowed a soft unconverted try.
Calne scored in the corner through winger Jay Watkin as the clock ticked down the last 30 seconds.
The try came from a short range kick and chase, the benefit of the touch down going to a chasing player.
