DEVIZES gained revenge for their 20-18 defeat in Dorset in December as they clinched a bonus-point victory over Sherborne at London Road in Southern Counties South.

Devizes set out their early dominance as the Sherborne scrum creaked and a flowing backs move down the right hand flank saw Rory Brown and Chris Barter exchange passes for the latter to motor over in the corner.

The lead was extended as the ball popped out of the scrum allowing Craig Bryant to bundle over the line. Andy Thompson adding the extras.

Devizes then played some of their best rugby of the season as Lewis Paget, Seb Hutchings and Josh Gould made ground and the ball was whipped out to the backs with Carter's final pass going to ground.

A counter attack by Luke Rapson and Barter down the left flank allowed Bryant again to dot down, Thompson kicking the conversion.

Devizes lost Travis Orwin to the sin-bin and Sherborne responded with a converted try but, after the interval, scrum-half Tom Collins' thunderous tackle put them on the front foot and nifty footwork from Brown allowed him in for the bonus-point score.

A second Sherborne score followed but the contest was settled as Devizes motored forward from a scrum and Gould dotted, Thompson converting.

A sixth and final try followed in the final minute as Thompson jinked over in the corner.
