DEVIZES clinched a last-gasp victory in their South West North Two derby clash with Westbury as Sam Hobbs late penalty decided matters.
Devizes started the game slowly and were 12-0 down at half time, Westbury scoring tries through Kerry Ackerman and Lana Plummer, who converted her own score.
The visitors also lost fly-half Becs Lamb to a serious arm injury which required an ambulance being called, the game moving to an adjacent pitch
Devizes started the second half in the same attacking mood and forced a penalty which fly-half Denise Warbutton converted.
Hobbs then went over the line for their first try of the game, converting herself following good work from the industrious forwards and hands from the backs.
Alice Bowerbank, who had switched from scrum-half to wing, outsprinted the Westbury defence and dotted down under the posts for Hobbs to again add the extras.
Westbury hit back with Plummer again scoring as Devizes ran out of defenders to go into the lead by two points but the conversion was missed.
With Westbury tiring, Devizes pack won a penalty that Hobbs knocked through the posts to secure the win.
