PEWSEY made it 10 wins out of 10 in Dorset & Wilts Two North with an emphatic 12-try emphatic win against hosts Bath Saracens.

Playing into a very strong headwind Vale were first on the scoreboard when centre James Mattingley ran in at the corner following a Pewsey surge.

Not to be out done Saracens rallied and were in for a converted try but Vale replied immediately, another surge seeing fly-half James Haynes dot down between the posts and adding the conversion.

With 15 minutes of the first half remaining the home side pounced on a handling error and rolled forward to touch down in the corner.

Vale upped their game and three tries in 10 minutes was the reward.

Flanker Olly Spence smashed through the home side’s defence for the try, converted by Haynes.

Saracens gained field position from the restart but an intercept and 70-metre dash sent centre Chris Takel over in the corner.

The half finished with number eight Phil Vallis driving over the line, Haynes adding the extras.

With the wind at their backs Pewsey became unstoppable and scored seven tries, six converted by Haynes.

Three converted tries in 15 minutes from restart, brought up Vale’s 50, Haynes, followed by flanker Joe Tavaga then Takel, taking his tally to two.

Four more tries followed – Vallis, Tavaga for his double, then Vallis again notching up his treble.

Haynes finished off with his third try.

Head coach Mick Haynes said: "There was too much individual (play) in the first half, not enough team.

"The second half was a superb demonstration of running support play rugby of the highest order, scoring tries from anywhere on the pitch.''
