CHIPPENHAM picked up a losing bonus point in their defeat to Bournemouth.

The Allington Fields side found themselves 3-0 down when they were put under pressure from a Bournemouth attack and conceded a pressure.

The Chippenham defence held firm following another break with Cameron Brown and Sam Saunders putting in some excellent tackles.

Chippenham won a penalty 40 metres out when Bournemouth collapsed a scrum, but Saunders was unable to convert the tricky kick.

Bournemouth were reduced to 14 men when they lost a player to the sin-bin following an off-the-ball incident.

The hosts continued to mount attacks but they were finding the Bournemouth defence tough to breach with Andy Rossiter and Saunders being stopped short of the line.

Chippenham drew level when a Saunders kicked a penalty after the visitors were penalised for failing to roll away from a tackle.

After the interval, Chippenham again went on the attack through Rossiter, Mike Beswick and number eight Bobby Lyons.

The hosts took the lead when Brown was pulled into the ruck by Bournemouth and Saunders nailed the long range penalty before the visitors missed a kick of their own.

Bournemouth took the lead when their back three ran the ball at Chippenham at pace and following some nice interplay their winger crossed for a converted score to make it 10-6.

Chippenham went on the attack and won another penalty but this time they kicked for the corner.

From the resultant line-out, Bournemouth stole possession and worked their way back the pitch to score an unconverted try.

Chippenham raised their game in the final minutes and saw Saunders kick another long penalty to secure a losing bonus point.
