MARLBOROUGH again suffered a narrow defeat in a thrilling encounter on the Common.

The first score of the game came after just two minutes with excellent rucking allowing home scrum-half James Farrell to spin the ball out to Moree Nailago.

He set up Russ Westcott who put wing Pita Robanakadavu in the corner to score.

The sides then exchanged penalties before the home team won another penalty after some fine rucking by flanker Hugo O’Neill.

Dockers got a try of their own to make it 11-10 but Nathan Morgan kicked another penalty for Marlborough before the first of two quick sin-bin offences, Chris Budgen and then Adam Whatley being harshly yellow-carded.

With the hosts down to 13 men the visitors took advantage and scored a second try which was converted.

Morgan kicked another penalty early in the second half to level the scores 17-17 and added another after Dockers had scored a converted try.

Budgen’s hard run down the centre and pass to Tevita Kiurutuba saw him send Robanakadavu in for his second try.

Dockers levelled with a penalty and then snatched victory with a late try.
