BATH & Wiltshire Romans player David Parkin has taken part in a rugby league tour of Bosnia with the GB Pioneers.

The 21-year-old spend two weeks in the country as part of the project, which is aimed at growing the game.

The Romans are also helping to spread the word about rugby league in Wiltshire.

The area has plenty of untapped potential for development as a hotbed of rugby union and the profile of rugby league has been raised since Bath’s signing of Sam Burgess.

The Romans are currently enjoying a highly successful debut season under the guidance of player-coach Tom Howley, who has himself recently returned from the Armed Forces rugby league tour of Australia.

Although they narrowly went down 26-24 in a Test match, Howley did manage to sneak over for a try.

Romans centre Mike Harrison was also part of the tour.

The Romans are currently unbeaten in the West of England League, won the West of England Challenge Cup last month and finished as runners-up in the West of England 9s event.

They have just two league games remaining before the end-of-season play-offs, away to Somerset Vikings on Saturday and at home to Bristol Sonics a week later.
