CHIPPENHAM’S serene progress towards the South West One East title continued unhindered on Saturday as they romped to victory.
In tricky conditions, Jimmy Owen ran in the first try, despite nursing a thigh injury sustained in the warm-up.
Buckingham responded with a penalty, but the visitors were out of sight by half time.
Efficient play released Bobby Lyons to cross the line with Sam Saunders converting.
A struggling Owen was substituted but, despite strong Buckingham pressure, tries from Ryan Surry, Chris Day and Lewis Surry took the score to 31-3 at half time.
In the second half, playing against the wind and slightly uphill, Chippenham moved through the gears and more tries followed.
First Saunders, then Ben Riley, Lewis and Ryan Surry, Fraser Clilverd and replacement Dan Keat crossed the line, Saunders converting four tries.
