DEVIZES salvaged a try bonus point from another South West One East defeat at Reading on Saturday.

Facing a home side just six points above them in the table, the Saddlebacks made a bad start as Reading full-back Alex Dorliac finished off a neat move for the opening try.

But the visitors responded as a rolling maul sent lock Will Paviour burrowing over, Rory Brown adding the extras for a 7-5 lead.

Reading retook the lead as hooker Josh Nicol crossed before centre Dan Witko added a third, Devizes’ Brown heading to the sin-bin.

Devizes responded again after another well worked driving maul, captain Julian Taylor going over to make it 17-12.

However, Reading upped the intensity in attack, scoring four tries in quick succession, Witko bagging a brace and Dorliac adding his second.

Devizes responded again, through a try from Brown after some good play from backs and forwards after centre Mark Carter was sent to the sin bin for an offence at the breakdown.

Reading scored their eighth try through Martin Shaw, before visiting winger Jorge Wadman crashed over for the final score after a flowing backs move.
