DEVIZES paid the price for a poor first-half showing as they suffered a comprehensive South West One East defeat in Oxfordshire.

Kicking into the wind, Devizes struggled to gain territory and possession and a poor first 40 minutes saw them trail 38-0, Grove securing the try bonus point after just 20 minutes.

To compound the visitors' problems, Will Paviour departed due to concussion and Martin Bills came on to make his first XV debut.

The second half was much better from the Saddlebacks, Bruce Clegg kicking well from hand in his first start at fly-half.

Devizes played through the phases and Jorge Wadman pounced after good hands from back rower Josh Lewis to get them on the scoreboard, Clegg converting.

A further loss of concentration from Grove allowed Luke Rapson to touch down, Clegg again converting.

But they then lost front row Ben Browne to the sin-bin and Grove added a further converted try to seal victory.
