MARLBOROUGH recorded their best win of the season and their best performance as they maintained their good start to the season.
Scrum-half Liam MacDonald enjoyed a fine match, putting pressure on regular number nine Will Grant, who had moved to the wing, with both players scoring a hat-trick of tries.
The first score of the game came after a quick penalty by MacDonald that led to the first of many powerful runs by centre Nick Clarke, who bounced off one defender and handed off two others to run in under the posts.
Full-back Nathan Morgan kicked the first of eight conversions and was next to score after taking a pass onehanded.
Further first-half scores arrived from Grant, MacDonald, Laurence Baker, who crossed twice, Joe Mitchell and Jonny Mantle for a 50-0 half-time lead.
MacDonald added the first two tries of the second half with some sniping runs before Grant showed his pace on the wing for another.
Cricklade scored with an interception try and conversion, but replacement Patrick Campbell continued the home side’s scoring with another powerful run.
Grant, Mantle and Westcott completed the try count.
