DEVIZES Rugby Club presented a memorial bench last weekend in memory of Les Dowse, the former club president who passed away in November.
The bench was purchased with donations gathered after the home match against Salisbury at the end of November.
First team manager Stuart Hadden said ‘It’s strange not having Les on the terrace roaring on the lads. He was a keen spectator back in the 1980s when I played, so for Les to pass away has left quite a gap on the terrace on a Saturday afternoon.”
Second team captain Matty Holloran, who assisted in making the bench, said: “All the lads are gutted that Les is not with us anymore, as he was such a popular member of the club.
“The bench will symbolise what the man stood for and allow people to come up here and watch the games like Les did every weekend.’’
