RUGBY: Bradford on Avon 7 Pewsey Vale 45
2:26pm Thursday 1st November 2012 in Rugby
Pewsey’s pace proved too much for Bradford in a seven-try exhibition.
The home team provided stubborn resistance for the first half an hour but the pressure finally told when a pick and go by hooker Jeremy Horton delivered quick ball to James Haynes.
A well-worked switch with fellow centre Ty Lewis opened room for the pop pass to Joe Tavaga who went over to plant the ball between the posts, with Haynes taking the extras.
Lewis then showed blistering speed over 80 metres to score between the posts, again converted, and Horton, taking a pass from Tom Haynes, bashed his way over to secure a 19-0 half-time lead.
The scoring continued after the interval as James Haynes scorched in from half-way and kicked the extra two points and Lewis followed up five minutes later in similar fashion for his second try.
James Haynes added seven more before flanker Chris Spence took a quick tap penalty and ran in from 40 metres for a fine individual try, converted once more by Haynes.
Bradford’s grit was rewarded in the dying minutes when fly-half Sam Neally crossed the line and kicked the conversion.
