PEWSEY claimed their second Dorset & Wilts One North win of the season with a bonus-point success over their Bath visitors.

The opening points came from the boot of fly-half James Haynes from a penalty after five minutes. Ten minutes later, wing Matty Mercer scorched in for well-taken try following a powerful forward drive.

Pewsey pressure continued and a quick tap penalty on Down’s five-metre line by scrum-half Tom Haynes sent hooker Jeremy Horton over.

Down fought their way back and two tries before the interval, one converted, closed the score up to 13-12.

The visitors then grabbed the lead with their third score after the interval, but Pewsey reacted immediately.

Driving forward play allowed wing Andy Ruddle to send over the supporting James Haynes.

With five minutes to go, replacement wing Chris Spence went over in the corner.
