"I'm your typical journeyman jockey, I have got a good agent in Guy Jewell and I will be getting my head down and working hard this summer. The social life goes quiet from here on in, but you have got to prioritise in life and there is no better feeling in the world than riding a winner.
"I have been riding out for Andy Turnell and he's given me a chance to ride a winner for him, hopefully I will get a chance to sit on some more."
Unfortunately for the Broad Hinton trainer the winner was sold at the subsequent auction to Lambourn trainer Tom Dascombe for 8,800 gns.
Another local success story was at the Vine and Craven Point to Point at Barbury Castle at the weekend when Earth Moving proved to be a family winner in the Restricted Race.
Trained by Alex and Gerald Burton at their yard at Calstone near Calne, the winner was ridden by son Danny. Their charge now goes to Wincanton on the March 6 to contest a Hunter Chase.
The Racing Post Chase at Kempton takes centre stage this weekend with some useful chasers bidding for the Grade 3 Handicap, run over three miles.
Once gain champion trainer Paul Nicholls will be chasing the big Saturday prize with his entries Gungadu, recent winner at Sandown, and Le Volfoni, who will be ridden by the stables top amateur jockey Mr N Scholfield claiming a valuable 7lb.
David Pipe also has his eye on the race with Celestial Gold , Madison Dui Berlais and An Accordiion.
There are plenty in with chances in the last big chase before the Festival but the columns selection is for Paul Nicholls to continue to farm the big Saturday races this time with Gungadu, the mount of Ruby Walsh.
The meeting gets underway with a Grade 2 Novices Hurdle that could well go to the Gary Moore trained Numide ridden by son Jamie and later in the afternoon Nicky Henderson could lift the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle with Binocular.
Other meetings are scheduled for Chepstow where Georges Boy could be worth an interest in the long distance handicap chase.
At Newcastle local jockey Timmy Murphy makes the trip up North for some useful looking mounts in Nelson Du Ronceray, April San and Marcel.
All weather fans are catered for at Lingfield where the feature races are the Listed Cleves Stakes that could be won by Halsion Chancer trained by John Best and ridden by local pilot George Baker and the Winter Derby Trial Stakes that could see joint champion jockey Jamie Spencer prevail on Dansant for trainer Gerard Butler.
Wolverhampton's evening meting gets underway at 6.50 with a six furlong handicap that could see Howards Tipple get punters off to a good start.
Later in the evening Marlborough trainer Martin Bosley bids for for a quick repeat success with Fine Ruler and Micky Mac could send backers home happy by winning the last race on the card.
